WHAT
CAN CANADIANS DO?
|
"We are at the very beginning of time for the human race. It is not unreasonable that we grapple with problems. But there are tens of thousands of years in the future. Our responsibility is to do what we can, learn what we can, improve the solutions, and pass them on." Richard Feynman |

INTRODUCTION Read the quotes for each of the three topics: Child Labour, Women's Rights and the Environment. For each topic, consider these three questions:What is the present status of this issue? What matters about this issue? and What is being done about this issue? RESEARCH Use resources that your teacher provides, and go online to discover the answers to these three questions. PRESENTATION Prepare a powerpoint presentation that synthesizes your discoveries about the three topics. Attend a seminar discussion for each topic. Come prepared to share what you have discovered about child labour, women's rights and the environment. GROUP WEB SITE AND TAKE ACTION CORRESPONDENCE Working in groups of three choose one of the three issues to further explore. Share what you have discovered and share your presentation with the group. Using all of your combined resources and the very best of your presentations, design a web site that presents your answer to each of the three questions. This website should be convincing and appealing and it should show others what Canadians can do about your issue. Finally, write and send an email or a letter to the government that expresses your concerns and your recommendations. COMPLETED PROJECT DUE: January 16, 2002 Project Evaluation RubricBack to Main |
