Applied Math 10 - Basketball Project

¸

Statistics for a basketball team were kept for the three games played in a tournament. The tables of statistics are in my assignment folder, in an Excel document entitled bball project. Complete the following tasks and save your final document in my dropbox with your name and some reference to basketball in the title. I will use the “General Scoring Rubric” to assess your work. The project is due at 3:25 pm October 17.

Create a table that shows the tournament total for each player in each of the categories.

In your new table, create a new column called average fouls. In this column, calculate the average number of fouls per game for each player in the tournament.

In your new table, insert a column to the right of FG successes. Title it "FG%." In this column, calculate successful FG percentage for each player.

Which player is the best shot (using FG statistics)? Defend your answer mathematically.

Which player has the best free throws (FT)? Defend your answer mathematically. How sure can you be of your answer?

In your new table, insert a column to the right of Offensive Rebounds. Title it “Average Offensive Rebounds.” In this column, find the average number of offensive rebounds for each player.

In your new table, insert a column to the right of Steals. Title it “Average Steals.” In this column, find the average number of steals for each player.

In your new table, insert a column to the right of Total Points. Title it “Average Points.” In this column, find the average number of points for each player. Which player has the highest average? The lowest?
