"You don’t stop laughing because you grow
old. You grow old because you stop laughing." - Michael Pritchard
Being old is all about attitude. It is in fact, possible to be "old
beyond your years" or "a child at heart", but attitude
is based on life’s experiences. If people begin to believe they
are old they will become old.
Age is not a number; it is an outlook on life. Living life to the fullest
and enjoying life is what keeps people young. One thing that might
prevent people
from staying young is obstacles. Trials and tribulations can cause people
to give up on life. Things like sickness, or the death of a loved
one can effect
peoples outlook on life. This resignation can cause people to be old before
their time. Instead rise above the obstacles and enjoy life to the fullest.
Although this is difficult, it can be achieved.
In the poem "Ulysses" by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Ulysses wants to
go out on another journey. Even if he dies on the adventure, to him it was
all worth it in the end. "To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." People
must go out and embrace whatever they can in order to enjoy life fully. People
are only on this earth for a short time, they might as well enjoy the time
they do have.
