Welcome to the Old Country Store

OLD COUNTRY STORE IN THE PAST
OLD COUNTRY STORE IN THE FUTURE

Following are the reflections of two students from the 2/3 classrooms at Dr. Morris Gibson Elementary school after visiting the Old Country Store (once called the General Store) as it exists today:

As my favorite friend and I were slowly walking down Main Street Okotoks, we saw a beautiful store. It is the General Store. We looked at it with lots of different looks. We put our cheeks against the very rough sandstone. Then we felt the extremely cracked glass. The door looked very old but repainted with beautiful new and old decorations. So we creaked up the old stairs and we carefully opened that amazing old repainted door. We creeped into the store. We saw some pictures hanging on the beautiful wall. We walked over to the other side of the store and we saw an old bench. It had new cuddly teddy bears on it. They were dressed in blue and yellow velvet trousers. It smelled dusty but mostly smelled like sweet smelling candles. There are a lot of candles in the store. The lady asked if we would like to take a candle home to our families. Of course we said we would love one. We wanted to buy a new beanie baby, so we did. The Old Country Store is a combination of both old and new.
