The Lantern
Following is a story by a student from the 2/3 classrooms at Dr. Morris Gibson Elementary school.  This artifact belongs to the family of the author, however it could have been found in the United Church in the past.

This lantern belongs to my great grandma Lockwood. When my great grandma Lockwood was a little girl her mom sent her down to the cellar to get some food. They had cellars instead of refrigerators to keep food cool. Cellars were dark so she needed the lantern for light. There was no electricity in her day. She took the lantern and started walking to the cellar. While she was walking down the cellar steps she tripped and fell and burnt her chin on the lantern. Even today my great grandma Lockwood still has the lantern and she still has the scar on her chin.
