ARDIEL HOUSE
IN THE FUTURE

Following are the reflections of two students from the 2/3 classrooms at Dr. Morris Gibson Elementary school after visiting the Ardiel house and envisioning it in the past:

I Think the ARDIEL House is  interesting because it has two front doors, two porches, two bay windows and there are two sets of steps leading up to the wooden porch.

The house outside is pitch black, light gray and white. It looks like it is a creepy two-story house. When I went into the house after walking up the steps, I looked around and saw a kitchen, a living room and

stairs. I decided to go to the kitchen.

When I got to the kitchen I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a Franklin Stove. A Franklin Stove is a short, iron stove that runs by burning coal. I touched it, it felt bumpy, poky and cold. When I was done looking in the kitchen I decided to look in the living room. In the living room there was a black ripped couch and a terribly torn chair. Then I went

up the short wooden stairs. When I got up the incredibly bumpy stairs I looked around and I was so amazed that there was only one room. But when I got into the room I saw that it was huge.  There was even a big wooden porch and I saw a big bed that was totally ripped up.

As I left the Ardiel House, I couldn't help but wish that I lived there!

One sunny, smoky morning I was walking to get the mail. All of a sudden, it started to storm. Thunder rang and lightning struck across the sky. I began to run home. On my way, I noticed a house. It had two different levels, two porches on each floor of the house and two different entrances. Wondering about the house, I walk up the steps to open the door.  As I slowly turn the doorknob, it lets out a quiet creak.  Inside, I see walls that are made of rough wood and off to the corner, I see a family sitting and reading a book in front of a roaring fire. Slowly, I walk over to the family. "Excuse me" I said, "but what do you call this house?"  They told me it is called the Ardiel House and asked me if I would like to join them by the cozy fire.  Because I was soaking wet from the rain that pelted down, I accepted their offer and joined them on the floor. Suddenly, I looked outside and noticed that it was getting dark. The storm had stopped, so I decided to go home back to my house with my family.
