Welcome To The Old Country Store
OLD COUNTRY STORE IN THE PAST
OLD COUNTRY STORE IN THE PRESENT

Following are the reflections of two students from the 2/3 classrooms at Dr. Morris Gibson Elementary school after visiting the Old Country Store (once called the General Store) and envisioning what it might look like in the future:

One sunny Sunday, ten years from now, in the year 2011, we were walking along the dusty side of the road, when we came upon the Old Country Store. It was the same store we had explored 10 years before.  As we entered we saw a very young lady behind the counter.  We noticed that the counter had a rainbow rug on it and so did the floor below.  The label said it came from the National Rug Company.  Above the rug hung a beautiful quilt.  It had a perfect flower on it.  The trim was very delicate and we realized it had little houses surrounding the beautiful flower.  It was very lovely.  It would make a very nice bedspread.  This was not here ten years ago.
We decided to explore the downstairs.  We walked down the same old windy steps.  These had being there when we visited before.  We saw a new furnace and some new windows.  They had to fix the things that made the building warm and bright but some of the old, strong wood still was part of the store.  As we looked around the rest of the building we discovered some new, some old.  The new was mainly the things that were being sold.  The old was the strong building.  It was fun to walk back to the past at the Old Country Store.
