Introduction

The Beothuk were a tribe of people who lived on Newfoundland until the early nineteenth century. When the European Settlers arrived, they deemed these people to be savages, and decided to try and civilise them. However, if you closely examine the culture of the Beothuk, you realize they are indeed very civilized, even though they may live in a "savage" way. This web page focuses on the spiritual views of the Beothuk, and how they contrasted with the views of the early settlers of Canada.
