I drew a crocodile because it is an endangered animal. It is endangered because some people put garbage int he water and that makes it wrong for the animals. If all the water dries up the crocodiles will die in the dirt.

Dear Paige, You talked about what might hurt the crocodile in the water. Crocodiles also inhabit the land. What do you think might hurt them on the land? Do you know where crocodiles lay their eggs? They lay them on the land. Sometimes people collect crocodile eggs. What do you think they do with them? Ms. R-M

The dinosaurs got so old that they died. I know this because things die if they are too old. There is a frog that has red cherry eyes and birds pick out their eyes and eat them. Some animals don't adapt very well or things change, like new animals come up and things change. Lizards are good because they change colours. They adapt well. What do cougars eat? I think that the snow cougar is bad and dangerous. It may be related to an extinct animal but I don't know which one. They are bad in the world so we don't need them and the world doesn't need them.

Sean Bell replies: In science we try not to judge animals as good or bad--they do what they have to to make sure that their babies have food. The cougar's babies certainly think their mom is needed. Cougars will eat pretty much any animal they can catch, principally deer and rabbits and the like. Sometimes when they are desperate in poor habitats near people, they may also take dogs (but they would probnably prefer that people weren't there). I'm not sure what you mean by a snow cougar, but there are several species of big cats in the world that can be dangerous if provoked, but usually want to be left alone. Of course, many animals can be dangerous--some of those brightly colored frogs can kill a person just by being touched.
